Skurge’s evil deeds over his lifetime accumulated in his axe, generating a malevolent persona that influences its holders, driving them to violence and evil. Though the axe blade is highly durable, its handle is less so. Via mental command and directed movements, the axe can cleave spatial and dimensional rifts, allowing teleportation or summoning energy or materials, such as stellar-like heat/light frigid ice from Earth’s arctic region destructive blasts or energy that sapped the Hulk’s gamma-powered strength. Skurge wields a 280-lb, double-bladed axe with a three-foot handle and two-foot-wide blade. An experienced equestrian and military strategist, Skurge also mastered automatic weapons and learned to pilot Heinrich Zemo’s airship. While in Casiolena’s realm, Skurge could also fire energy blasts and enchant prisons. Skurge has a hunting falcon’s visual acuity. Skurge possesses superhuman strength (lifting 65 tons), durability (resisting 0.50-caliber machine gunfire), speed, stamina, healing, and longevity (millennia lifespan), plus athletic agility and reflexes. Therethey allied with Baron Zemo as the Masters of Evil in repeated attacks against the Avengers. Thor returned Amora and Skurge to Asgard, where ruler Odin Borson punitively stripped Skurge of his axe and helmet, and banished him and Amora to Earth. Enraged at his betrayal, Amora magically assaulted Skurge, forcing him to relinquish Mjolnir back to Thor for protection. They negotiated to return Jane in exchange for Thor’s mystic hammer, Mjolnir. ![]() Skurge banished Jane to an extradimensional limbo but was overpowered by Thor. At least twice, Skurge was summoned into the modern era’s relative future by Zarrko the Tomorrow Man: once opposing the Fantastic Four and once against the “Thor Corps.” In recent years, Amora-hoping to seduce Thor at Loki’s request-enlisted Skurge to eliminate Jane Foster, the would-be lover of Thor’s mortal incarnation, Don Blake. Thor overpowered Skurge and drove back the giants. Over a millennium ago, Amora led Skurge to ally with Asgardian god of mischief, Loki Laufeyson, hoping to trick Loki’s adoptive brother, thunder god Thor Odinson, into releasing Jotunheim’s giants on Earth.
